Botulinum toxin:  Facial wrinkles caused by tension in the facial muscles can be reduced with botulinum toxin (Botox) therapy. Botox is particularly suitable for treating wrinkles in the upper third of the face, such as so-called frown lines, which develop vertically at the junction of the bridge of the nose and forehead due to frequent concentration and visual exertion (e.g., screen work).

Botox is also very suitable for treating horizontal forehead wrinkles (worry lines) or radial, outward-extending wrinkles at the corners of the eyes (laugh lines). On January 27, 2006, botulinum toxin was approved in Germany for the treatment of glabellar lines (“frown lines”). The effect lasts for an initial 3-6 months, and up to 1 year after follow-up injections.

Fillers:  Fillers are the appropriate treatment for static wrinkles. For patient safety reasons, our ENT practice in Hamburg uses only biodegradable substances (= non-permanent fillers) such as hyaluronic acid. These are natural components of our skin and are completely broken down by the body over time. Hyaluronic acid can be used to treat wrinkles around the mouth (‘perioral’), nasolabial folds, acne scars, and even deeper skin defects or scars.
